Andrew Lloyd Webber Will Release 40th Anniversary Edition Phantom Cast Album

To celebrate the 40th anniversary of The Phantom of the Opera, Andrew Lloyd Webber will release a remixed and remastered version of the 1986 original London cast recording, using the original analogue master tapes, restoring previously unreleased sections and uncovering rare material from his personal archive.

The Phantom of the Opera (The Andrew Lloyd Webber 2026 Mix) will be available on digital, CD, and vinyl formats, with the three-LP edition restoring material cut from the original album because of running time restrictions.

The title song, recorded by Sarah Brightman and Michael Crawford, will release at midnight on September 18. The digital album will be released on October 9 on The Phantom of the Opera‘s 40th anniversary, which will be marked with a gala celebration at His Majesty’s Theatre, home to the musical since its opening night. The three-LP vinyl and two-CD sets will be released on November 6, followed by a limited edition six-LP box set on November 20.

The six-LP limited edition vinyl box set, “A Collector’s Piece Indeed,” includes the 2026 mix along with the original motion picture soundtrack two-LP on champagne vinyl and Masquerade: The Orchestral Score on one-LP glass clear vinyl, which to date has only been available in-venue at Masquerade off-Broadway. The box also includes a hand-numbered Robert Heindel art print (one of 2,026), replica annotated early edition scripts, sheet music from Andrew Lloyd Webber’s archive, and a fold-out replica poster of the original Broadway production with cast signatures.
