Bill Condon's new Broadway revival of the Henry Krieger-Bill Russell musical Side Show started previews October 28 at the St. James Theatre, and it was an exciting occasion for its stars, Emily Padgett and Erin Davie. The actresses, who play vaudeville performers Daisy and Violet Hilton, were presented with celebratory bouquets of flowers to toast their first night on Broadway. They took an exuberant bow alongside costars Matthew Hydzik, Robert Joy, Ryan Silverman, and David St. Louis.

Side Show explores the lives of the Hilton sisters, a pair of conjoined twins who toured the vaudeville circuit and whose bond was able to bring them fame, but not love. The original production, which starred Alice Ripley and Emily Skinner, opened at Broadway's Richard Rodgers Theatre in 1997 and played 31 previews and 91 performances. It received five Tony Award nominations, including Best Musical, Best Original Score, and Best Book of a Musical. This revival originated at the La Jolla Playhouse and The Kennedy Center.
