The first-ever production of Green Day's musical American Idiot adapted for high school students will make its debut on April 14 at Jonathan Dayton High School in Springfield, New Jersey.

Michael Mayer, who directed the show and cowrote the book with Green Day front man Billie Joe Armstrong, adapted the script for this pilot production. The production features choreography (inspired by Steven Hoggett's original creations) by Alison Morooney, who served as dance captain for the show's national tour. Keith Caggiano is providing professional sound equipment.

The musical tells the story of three boyhood friends, each searching for meaning in a post 9-11 world. It features the music of Green Day with the lyrics of its lead singer Armstrong. American Idiot played 421 performances at Broadway's St. James Theatre and received the 2011 Grammy Award for Best Musical Show Album, two 2010 Tony Awards, a Drama Desk Award, and an Outer Critics Circle Award.
