Alan Cumming's New Memoir, Not My Father's Son, to Be Released This Fall

Dey Street Books will publish the Tony winner’s life story.

Tony Award-winning Cabaret and The Good Wife star Alan Cumming will see the publication of his memoir, titled Not My Father's Son, on October 7 via the Dey Street Books imprint of HarperCollins.

The memoir stems from Cumming's 2010 appearance on the television geneaology series Who Do You Think You Are to trace the roots of his maternal grandfather, who left the family after World War II to live in Malaysia. Cumming intertwines this story with an examination of his childhood in Scotland and his rise to fame.

Cumming currently stars in Roundabout Theatre Company's revival of Cabaret and recently appeared on Broadway in Macbeth. His stage credits include Design for Living and The Threepenny Opera. Cumming received two Emmy nominations for his performance as Eli Gold on The Good Wife and a 2014 Daytime Emmy nomination for a guest appearance on the animated television series Arthur.
