Composer/lyricist Adam Gwon has been named as the recipient of Second Stage Theatre‘s first annual Donna Perret Rosen Award. It comes with $10,000, and is given out for excellence in musical theatre.
The award is named after Rosen, a Second Stage Theatre trustee, in recognition of her long-standing commitment to young artists and new works. It was chosen by Tony Award winners James Lapine, Susan Stroman, and Jack Viertel.
Gwon is perhaps best known for Ordinary Days, which has been produced in New York and around the globe, and recorded by Ghostlight Records. His other musicals include The Boy Detective Fails, Cloudlands, and Bernice Bobs Her Hair.
