Stage and screen actress Hazel Medina died in New York on February 14, due to complications from multiple myeloma, according to Variety. She was 74.
Medina was a founding member of the Group Repertory Theater in Los Angeles, and over the years was also a member of Theater West, Negro Ensemble Company, and Black Women in Theater.
Among her stage credits were William Five Off-Broadway, and The Crucible for the Roundabout Theater Company.
Among her film and television credits are One Life to Live, Longtime Companion, I Think I Love My Wife, Malcolm X, and Music of the Heart.
Medina is survived by her husband, actor Jerry Matz. A celebration of her life will be held at Riverside Church on March 24 at 11am.
