Javier Muñoz to Lead Cast of Into the Woods at the Cape Playhouse

Cape Playhouse also announced casting for Hairspray, Mean Girls, and Spelling Bee.

In its 2026 season, the Cape Playhouse—America’s longest-running continuously operating professional summer theater—enters its centennial year. Initial casting was announced for the four shows running this summer at the Cape Cod Center for the Arts in Dennis, MA.

Directed by artistic director Eric Rosen and choreographed by Betty Weinberger, the cast of Into the Woods (June 24-July 11) will be led by Javier Muñoz as the Baker. The cast also incudes Nick Adams as Cinderella’s Prince / The Wolf, Delphi Borich as Cinderella, Alex Finke as the Baker’s Wife, Christine Toy Johnson as Jack’s Mother, Erik Lochtefeld as the Mysterious Man / Narrator, Madison Marie Mosley as Little Red Riding Hood, Joe Serafini as Jack, Pearl Sun as the Witch, and J Savage as Rapunzel’s Prince, with more to be announced.

Hairspray (July 15-August 8), based on the film by John Waters, directed by Bill Fennelly and choreographed by Felicity Stiverson, will star RuPaul’s Drag Race‘s Alex Michaels as Edna Turnblad, alongside Michael Brian Dunn as Wilbur Turnblad, Laura Jordan as Female Authority Figure, Kevin B. McGlynn as Male Authority Figure, Keisha Gilles as Motormouth Maybelle, Kate Marilley as Velma Von Tussle, and Ben Jackson Walker as Link Larkin.

Mean Girls (August 12-29), directed and choreographed by Al Blackstone, will feature Scarlett Diaz as Karen Smith, Danielle Kelsey as Ms. Norbury / Mrs. George / Mrs. Heron, Jody Reynard as Mr. Duvall, Caroline Siegrist as Regina George, and Lizzy Tucker as Janis Sarkisian.

The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee (September 2-19), directed by Claybourne Elder and choreographed by Charlie Williams, will feature Julia Murney as Rona Lisa Peretti, Viveca Chow as Marcy Park, and Matthew Wilkas as Vice Principal Douglas Panch.

Additional casting and creative team members for all four shows will be announced at a later date.
