The Actors’ Equity Foundation has announced its 2002 Foundation Grants. $60,000 will be awarded to 55 not-for-profit Equity theaters all over America.
“We are very proud to maintain the total level of funding to these deserving institutions this year, despite the
overall economic climate,” Foundation president Carl Harms and Actors’ Equity executive director Alan Eisenberg said in a statement. “Overall, the thrust of these grants is to recognize and assist these theatres’ efforts to provide employment for Equity actors and stage managers.”
Among the New York theaters awarded with grants are AMAS Musical Theatre, Atlantic Theatre Company, Classic Stage Company, Irish Repertory Theatre, Manhattan Class Company, Manhattan Theatre Club, The New Group, New York Theatre Workshop, The Pearl Theatre Company, Primary Stages, the Public Theater, Signature Theatre Company, Theatre for a New Audience, and the Vineyard Theatre. In addition, 14 theaters in the central region were award grants, and 12 in the western region.
