Mark Nadler and ”54 Sings” are among the recipients of the cabaret honors.
The Manhattan Association of Cabarets & Clubs has announced the winners of the 29th Annual MAC Awards, presented B. B. King Blues Club and Grill in New York City.
Special honorees included Baby Jane Dexter and Steve Ross, who both received Lifetime Achievement Awards from MAC. The pair also performed live at the show. David Kenney of WBAI FM Radio received MAC’s Board of Directors Award. In addition, MAC presented the Ruth Kurtzman Benefit Series Award to the Winter Rhythms series at Urban Stages.
Notable winners included cabaret legend Mark Nadler for his 54 Below concert Runnin' Wild: Songs and Scandals of the Roaring '20s; The 54 Sings Series, created by Phil Geoffrey Bond and produced by 54 Below, and Bruce Kimmel's new song, "Simply."
The ceremony was hosted by Broadway vet Karen Mason. Lennie Watts directed, and Barry Levitt served as musical director.
