Ground-breaking director Richard Schechner will helm writer/performer Lián Amaris’ Swimming to Spalding, at HERE Arts Center, December 3-19, with an opening set for December 6.

In the solo piece, Amaris recounts her pilgrimage to the sites evoked by the late Spalding Gray’s Swimming to Cambodia. The production team will include Lucian Ban (sound), Melissa Mizell (lighting), and Angrette McClosky (set).

Schechner founded the Performance Group (which later became The Wooster Group), where he directed Gray in six productions from 1970 to 1979. He is also the founder of East Coast Artists, which is co-producing this run with Colorado College.
