Tony Award winner Chita Rivera will host Career Transition For Dancers’ gala, A Halloween Thriller: A Dance Celebration of Ghosts, Ghouls, Vampires & Wilis, to be held at New York City Center on Monday, October 31 at 7pm.
The evening will feature appearances by Natalia Makarova, Bebe Neuwirth, Carmen De Lavallade, Judith Jamison, Noah Racey, and Ne-Yo, as well as performances by dancers from American Repertory Ballet, Houston Ballet, Les Ballets Trockadero de Monte Carlo, MOMIX, Jacques d’Amboise’s National Dance Institute, New York City Ballet, and many more. In addition, Michael Jackson’s “Thriller” will be performed by 150 children from New York City’s schools
As previously reported, television producer and choreographer Nigel Lythgoe will receive the 2011 Rolex Dance Award at the event.
Rivera won the Tony Award for The Rink and Kiss of the Spider Woman, and her many Broadway credits include Chita Rivera: The Dancer’s Life, Bring Back Birdie, Chicago, Merlin, Bye Bye Birdie, Sweet Charity, and West Side Story.
