New York City’s Scandinavia House will celebrate the 100th anniversary of pianist Victor Borge through Victor Borge: A Centennial Celebration, to run January 23-May 2.
The exhibit will include film clips, recordings, photographs, and memorabilia from Borge’s personal archives. There will also be a number of concerts and special events in conjunction with the exhibit, including performances by the Scandinavian Chamber Orchestra and the Lyric Chamber Orchestra.
Borge made his Broadway debut in the 1941 revue Crazy with the Heat. He brought his one-man show Comedy with Music to Broadway in 1953, and performed it numerous times over three decades. His last Broadway appearance was 1989’s Victor Borge’s Holiday Show on Broadway. In 1999, he received the Kennedy Center Honor.
