VIDEO FLASH: Jeffrey Wright’s U.S. Message for World Theatre Day

Tony Award winner Jeffrey Wright has taped the U.S. message for Theatre Communications Group (TCG) and International Theatre Institute (ITI-US to promote the 49th annual World Theatre Day to be held on on March 27, 2011. A second, international message has been recorded by Ugandan artist, academic and humanitarian Jessica A. Kaahwa.

Created in 1961, World Theatre Day is celebrated annually by International Theatre Institute Centers around the world and the international theatre community. TCG/ITI-US has dedicated its World Theatre Day celebrations to the full life and inspiring legacy of Ellen Stewart, founding artistic director of the La MaMa Experimental Theatre, who passed away on January 13, 2011. Stewart composed the World Theatre Day International Message in 1975.
