69th Annual Tony Awards Nominated for a Webby Award

The American Theatre Wing’s “Working in the Theatre” web series has also been nominated for coverage of Deaf West Theatre’s ”Spring Awakening” and more.

The 69th Annual Tony Awards has been nominated for a Webby Award for its exemplary integrated digital experience, the organization has announced. The digital coverage at the 2015 event included a fully produced red-carpet live stream in addition to social-media coverage.

The 70th Annual Tony Awards will air on the CBS Television Network on June 12, live from the Beacon Theatre in New York City.

In addition, the American Theatre Wing's "Working in the Theatre" web series has been nominated for a 2016 Webby for Online Film & Video – Documentary: Series. Recent "Working in the Theatre" episodes have included a look inside legendary comedy troupe Second City, the use of sign language onstage in Deaf West Theatre’s Broadway revival of Spring Awakening, and more.

Winners for the 20th Annual Webby Awards will be announced on April 26, with the 20th Annual Webby Awards to be held in May 2016. Viewers can vote for the Webby People’s Voice Winners by visiting the Webby Award's website here. Voting is open to the public until April 21.
