Tom Wopat and Lynne Wintersteller will star in the Pittsburgh CLO’s production of the Tony Award-winning musical 42nd Street, July 4-16. The production will be directed by Charles Repole, with choreography by Michael Lichtefeld and musical direction by Craig Barna.

The cast will also feature Alessa Neek (Peggy), Ian Knauer (Billy), George Dvorsky (Pat), Susan Cella (Maggie), Nina Fluke (Anytime Annie), Paul Palmer (Abner), Scott P. Sambuco (Andy and Bert), and Jeff Howell (Mac, Thug, and Doctor).

Wopat will play Julian Marsh, the same role he played in the show’s recent Broadway revival. His other Broadway credits include Chicago, Annie Get Your Gun, Glengarry Glen Ross, and Guys and Dolls. He is replacing previously announced star John Schneider, who was his castmate on the hit TV series The Dukes of Hazzard. Wintersteller, who will play Dorothy Brock, appeared on Broadway in A Grand Night for Singing. Her many other stage credits include Closer Than Ever, Annie, and Kiss Me, Kate.

42nd Street is based on the classic 1993 movie. It features a book by Mark Bramble and Michael Stewart and a score by Al Dubin and Harry Warren. The original Broadway production, directed by Gower Champion, opened in August 1980 and ran for nearly 3,500 performances. The recent revival opened in 2001 and ran for over 1,500 performances.
