The Human Comedy, MilkMilkLemonade, et al. Part of Astoria Performing Arts Center’s 2010-2011 Season

The Astoria Performing Arts Center (APAC) has announced its 2010-2011 season, which will include a revival of Galt MacDermot and William Dumaresq’s musical version of William Saroyan’s The Human Comedy in May, 2011. Tom Wojtunik will direct the production, which will have choreography by Christine O’Grady, scenic design by Michael P. Kramer, and costume design by Hunter Kaczorowski.

The piece focuses on a young telegram messenger whose job exposes him to both the sorrows and joys that the residents of his small California town experience during World War II.

The season will open with Joshua Conkel’s MilkMilkLemonade, October 28-November 13. José Zayas will direct the piece about two gay children and the ways in which they are raised in today’s world.

In addition to the full productions, the theater will continue its The 15/20s: Staged Readings of New Works series, offering performances of Nastraran Ahmadi’s Doctoring (September 16), Wendy Macleod’s The Groaning Board (December 9), Alex Golberg’s It Is Done (February 10), and Sarah Overman’s Afterglow (A Comedie of Bad Manners (March 28).
