Avant-garde legends Richard Foreman and John Zorn have joined forces to create Astronome: A Night at the Opera, which will play the Ontological Theater at St. Mark’s Church, February 5-April 5, with an opening set for February 13.

Written and directed by Foreman, the piece features Zorn’s recorded score dominated by ecstatic groans, grunts and babbling. Onstage, we witness the initiation of a group of people into a world where ambiguous behavior alone leads to freedom–perhaps under the tutelage of the necessary “false messiah.”

The cast will include Karl Allen, Benjamin Forster, Eric Magnus, Fulya Peker, James Peterson, Morgan von Prelle Pecelli, and Deborah Wallace.
