Rasheeda Speaking to Kick Off Second Season of Thirteen's Theater Close-Up
The local series broadcasts plays from off-Broadway theater companies.
Blythe Danner will host the second season of PBS' Theater Close-Up series, which locally broadcasts recently taped productions from New York's non-profit off-Broadway theaters.
The New Group's production of Joel Drake Johnson's Rasheeda Speaking, directed by Cynthia Nixon and starring Tonya Pinkins, Dianne Wiest, Darren Goldstein, and Patricia Conolly, will kick off the second season, airing October 1 at 9pm.
Next up is the Mint Theater Company's production of Ferenc Molnár's Fashions for Men, airing Thursday, October 15, at 9pm, followed by Tom Dugan's Wiesenthal, filmed at the Acorn Theatre, and Nikkole Salter's Repairing a Nation, filmed at the Crossroads Theatre Company in New Jersey. The air dates for the latter two titles are still to be announced.
The first season of Theater Close-Up included The Apple Family Plays, The Vandal, and The Iliad, among other titles.
