One Armed Man will present Adam Klasfeld’s new play I Dreamed I Saw Joe Hill’s Lover, Last Night for a one night performance at the Little Theatre of the LaGuardia Performing Arts Center on November 15, at 7:30pm. Mark Greenfield will direct.

The play centers around novelist Jacob Goldstein as he attempts to unravel the mystery of Joe Hill’s mysterious lover. Visited by visions of folk heroes, floating pies and strange, masked figures, his obsession may lead him to an answer. Mashing up the histories of Joe Hill, Helen Keller and Martin Luther King, Jr., the play explores ideas of art, lust, commitment, self-sacrifice, heroism and the connection between personal and social revolution.

Klasfeld’s recent “American Folk Trilogy” investigates little-known historical narratives. The first of the series, The Report of My Death, explored the later life and politics of Mark Twain and received widespread acclaim in its premiere aboard a steamship in Manhattan in 2009. That production was nominated for a 2010 NYIT Award in the category of Outstanding Solo Performance. I Dreamed I Saw Joe Hill’s Lover, Last Night is the second installment of the trilogy. His other plays include Good Fences Make Good Neighbors and The Prostitute of Reverie Valley. Klasfeld is the artistic director of the production company One Armed Man.
