Michele Lee, Barry Manilow, Dinah Shore, et al. Featured on Heart & Soul: Celebrating the Unforgettable Songs of Frank Loesser

Michele Lee, Barry Manilow, Della Reese, Dinah Shore, and Sarah Vaughn are among the artists who will featured on Heart & Soul: Celebrating the Unforgettable Songs of Frank Loesser, an all-new collection from Masterworks Broadway to be available digitally and as a disc-on-demand from Arkivmusic.com June 29, the exact 100th anniversary of the songwriter’s birth.

Heart & Soul brings together classic pop recordings of many of Loesser’s most enduring hits, from both Hollywood and Broadway. Among the selections on the 19-track disc are Vaughn’s interpretations of “Can’t Get Out of This Mood” and “Spring Will Be a Little Late This Year;” “Baby, It’s Cold Outside” sung by Pearl Bailey and Hot Lips Page; Manilow’s take on “Luck Be a Lady”; and “Never Will I Marry” performed by Vic Damone.

In addition, the disc includes several medleys including one of songs from Where’s Charley?, performed by The Four Lads with Ray Ellis and His Orchestra, and one with music from the film Hans Christian Andersen featuring the Boston Pops Orchestra, conducted by Arthur Fiedler.

Loesser’s musicals include Guys and Dolls, The Most Happy Fella, Greenwillow and How To Succeed in Business Without Really Trying. In addition to Tony Awards, New York Drama Critics Circle Awards and the Pulitzer Prize, Loesser won an Academy Award for “Baby, It’s Cold Outside” and was nominated for an additional four Oscars.
