Lincoln Center has announced the participating artists for its 2011-2012 Great Performers season.

Among the performers will be Thomas Ades, Joshua Bell, Ian Bostridge, Christine Brewer, Sir Colin Davis, Emerson String Quartet, Gerald Finley, Hilary Hahn, Simon Keenlyside, Todd Palmer, Murray Perahia, Christian Tetzlaff, Sally Wilfert, and Michael Winther.

In addition, a three-part film series at the Walter Reade Theater in March will delve into the phenomenon that was Maria Callas. It will open with Alain Ferrari’s 1978 documentary for French television on the life of Callas, Vissi d’Arte, in which numerous artist colleagues and collaborators, including Giuseppe di Stefano, Jon Vickers, Cathy Berberian, Carlo Maria Giulini, and Franco Zeffirelli, as well as Callas’ teacher Elvira de Hidalgo, are interviewed.

The second program is a film of a 1959 Hamburg, Germany concert Callas performed with the NDR Sinfonieorchester, singing arias from Rossini, Bellini and Verdi, to be followed by a panel discussion; and the third program features excerpts from rehearsals, performances, and an extended conversation with director Luchino Visconti.
