Diane Paulus' revival of Stephen Schwartz and Roger O. Hirson's classic musical Pippin, which played an acclaimed run this past winter at the Cambridge, Massachusetts American Repertory Theater, celebrated its Broadway opening night on April 25 at the Music Box Theatre. Following the performance, the cast, creative team, and their guests headed to Slate on 21st Street for the swanky afterparty.

Matthew James Thomas (Spider-Man Turn Off The Dark) leads the company in the title role, a young man who sets off on a death-defying journey to find his "corner of the sky" with the help (or hindrance) of a mysterious group of performers led by the Leading Player (Patina Miller). Pippin must decide between an "extraordinary" life with a singular moment of blazing glory or an ordinary one alongside his love, Catherine (Rachel Bay Jones). The cast also features Tony Award nominee Terrence Mann (The Addams Family) as Charlemagne, Tony Award nominee Charlotte d'Amboise (A Chorus Line) as Fastrada, Erik Altemus (The Fantasticks) as Lewis, Andrew Cekala (Ragtime) and Ashton Woerz (Priscilla Queen of the Desert) rotating as Theo, and Tony Award winner Andrea Martin (Young Frankenstein) as Berthe. Other members of the company include Grégory Arsenal, Lolita Costet, Colin Cunliffe, Andrew Fitch, Orion Griffiths, Viktoria Grimmy, Sabrina Harper, Olga Karmansky, Bethany Moore, Brad Musgrove, Stephanie Pope, Philip Rosenberg, Yannick Thomas, Molly Tynes, and Anthony Wayne.

Guests at the opening night included original Pippin star Ben Vereen, as well as Martin Short, Jane Krakowski, Jennifer Damiano, Lorenzo Pisoni, Ricky Martin, Marc Shaiman and Scott Wittman, Steve Kazee, Tommy Tune, Will Chase and Debra Messing, and New York City Police Commissioner Ray Kelly.
