Gloria Estefan Thinks Ariana Grande Is Up to the Vocal Challenge of Playing Her on Broadway

Grammy-winning singer Gloria Estefan would apparently love to see contemporary pop diva and 13 the Musical star Ariana Grande play her in the upcoming Broadway musical about her life, On Your Feet!

Estefan told The New York Daily News that "Ariana Grande would be somebody wonderful," and further detailed how she discovered the young singer long before her rise to fame last year: on a cruise ship doing karaoke when she was eight years old. "I literally went up to her and told her and her mom, 'I don't know if you plan on doing this, but this is what you need to be doing because you are an amazing singer,'" Estefan told the paper.

Featuring a book by Alexander Dinelaris, On Your Feet! begins performances at Broadway's Marquis Theatre on October 5, 2015, under the direction of Jerry Mitchell. Whether Grande will "Break Free" from pop stardom to return to the Great White Way still remains to be seen.
