Emmy Nominee Matthew Cowles to Star in THIRST: a spell for Christabel

Two-time Emmy nominee Matthew Cowles will star in THIRST: a spell for Christabel, a new play by Monika Bustamante, based on the unfinished gothic poem “Christabel” by Samuel Taylor Coleridge. First Light Theater Group will present the play at HERE Arts Center, March 10-April 12, with an opening set for March 17. Elena Araoz will direct.

The play is set in an abandoned forest suffering from an apocalyptic drought, and concerns a father and daughter who are visited by a mysterious and opportunistic woman who quickly transforms their quiet world.

The cast will also include Lori Funk and Elizabeth Gross, with the creative team including Susan Zeeman Rogers (set), Chloe Chapin (costumes), Justin Townsend (lighting), and Arielle Edwards (sound).

Cowles’ Broadway credits include Sweet Bird of Youth, The Time of Your Life, and Malcolm. He received his Emmy nominations for his work on the soap opera All My Children, and additional film and television credits include Life on Mars, Oz, and the forthcoming Veronika Decides to Die.
