This evening's performance of Bertolt Brecht's A Man's A Man at Classic Stage Company has been canceled because of an injury to a cast member. According the production, Bill Buell (who plays Jeraiah Jip) sustained a fractured ankle backstage during last night's performance when a mechanical set piece malfunctioned. Because there is currently no understudy for the role, the remainder of last night's performance was canceled, as was tonight's performance. CSC hopes to find a replacement actor to resume performances tomorrow. Ticket holders can visit www.classicstage.org for updates.
A Man's a Man is directed by Brian Kulick and features a new score written by Tony winner Duncan Sheik (Spring Awakening). The Brechtian farce tells the story of innocent dockworker Galy Gay in British Colonial India who is unorthodoxly enlisted into Her Majesty's Armed Forces. The cast features Justin Vivian Bond (Widow Begbick), Jason Babinsky (Polly Baker), Gibson Frazier (Galy Gay), Martin Moran (Uriah Shelley), Steven Skybell (Jesse Mahoney), Stephen Spinella (Bloody Five), Ching Valdes-Aran (Mr. Wang), and Allan K. Washington (Ensemble).
