Collegiate Chorale to Perform Selections from American Operettas at Alice Tully Hall
The concert will celebrate Herbert, Romberg, and Friml, three European composers who became American citizens; it will also commemorate Herbert’s birth on February 1, 1859. Written and conceived by Bass and Rees, the program follows the arc of American operetta’s development from turn-of-the-century entertainments to what is now known as the Broadway musical. According to Bass, “This music lightened hearts in the dark days of the early 20th century, carrying starry-eyed audiences away to preposterous and wondrous locations, which we will do with great singing and very silly acting.”
Tickets for the concert range in price from $25 to $60; they can be purchased by calling 917-322-2140. Click here for more information.
