Brook, Gish, Mandan, Metwally, Venora, et al. Set for L.A. King Lear logo

Award-winning stage and television actor Robert Mandan will play the title role in Tier 4's star-studded production of Shakespeare's King Lear at the Electric Lodge in Venice, California, July 26-September 3. The production, to be directed by Patsy Rodenburg, will open officially on July 28.

The cast will also include Diane Venora (Fool), Lawrence Pressman (Gloucester), Omar Metwally (Edgar), Patrick Muldoon (Edmund), Jayne Brook (Goneril), Annabeth Gish (Regan), Mili Avital (Cordelia), Bo Eason (Cornwall), Tim Murphy (Kent), Clay Stroseth (Albany), Simon Mainwaring (Burgundy), and Christian Contaras (Oswald). The ensemble will feature Joe Reegan, Tyne Raphaeli, Garry Morris, and Robert Merrill.

Mandan made his Broadway debut in 1956 in Speaking of Murder and subsequently appeared on the Great White Way in the musicals Maggie Flynn, Applause, and Mail. He has worked extensively in regional theatre, and won the 2005 Ovation Award for Best Actor in The Caretaker. He is best known to television viewers for his role as Chester Tate on the classic series Soap.
