Benjamin, Cariou, Segal to Star in Geffen’s Heroes

Richard Benjamin, Len Cariou, and George Segal will star in the Geffen Playhouse’s production of Heroes, written by Gérald Sibleyras and translated by Sir Tom Stoppard, April 10-May 27. The production, which will open on April 18, is directed by Thea Sharrock, who helmed the current London production of Equus with Daniel Radcliffe and Richard Griffiths.

The play, which won the 2006 Olivier Award for Best Comedy, is set in a Parisian Veterans’ home in 1959, where three decorated soldiers trade jabs and barbs while enhancing their fraternity. The show’s creative team includes Robert Jones (sets and costumes), Howard Harrison (lighting), and Jonathan Burke (sound).

Benjamin’s Broadway credits include The Star Spangled Girl, The Norman Conquests, and Table Manners. His many film credits include Goodbye, Columbus, Diary of a Mad Housewife, The Sunshine Boys, and The Last of Shiela.

Cariou received the Tony Award for Sweeney Todd and Tony nominations for A Little Night Music and Applause. His many other stage credits include Proof, The Dinner Party, Dance a Little Closer and All My Sons.

Segal starred on Broadway in Art, Requiem for a Heavyweight, and Gideon. He received an Academy Award nomination for Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf?, a BAFTA nomination for No Way to Treat a Lady, and two Golden Globe nominations for the television series Just Shoot Me.
