A film adaptation of Stephen Karam's The Humans is in the works, according to published reports.

Deadline reports that Karam will adapt and direct the screen version of his drama, with a company that reportedly includes Tony-winning original cast member Jayne Houdyshell, as well as Beanie Feldstein, Amy Schumer, Richard Jenkins, and Steven Yeun. A24, IAC, and Scott Rudin and Eli Bush are producing.

Recipient of 2016 Tony, Drama Desk, Outer Critics Circle, and New York Drama Critics Circle Awards, The Humans follows Erik, who has broken with tradition and brought his Pennsylvania family to celebrate Thanksgiving at his daughter's apartment in lower Manhattan. As darkness falls, family tensions reach a peak, and the heart and horrors of the clan are exposed.
