The McGowan Trilogy and Port Authority Lead 2014 Origin's 1st Irish Festival Nominations
Winners will be presented with their awards at a September 29 ceremony.
The seventh annual Origin's 1st Irish Festival has announced nominations for its top honors, which will be handed out at an awards ceremony at Papillon Bistro-Bar on September 29. Nine plays were seen in competition during the monthlong festival, which began on September 3.
The Origin's 1st Irish Festival features plays and productions by contemporary Irish playwrights in an array of styles. The 2014 productions vying for the tourney's jury-voted awards are from Belfast, Dublin, Los Angeles, and New York.
This year's panel of voters includes TheaterMania Managing Editor Andy Lefkowitz, Mint Theater Artistic Director Jonathan Bank, casting director Stephanie Klapper, and Fox News Senior Producer Marvin Himelfarb.
The list of nominees is as follows:
Best Playwright – Shane Baker and Samuel Beckett (Waiting for Godot); Dylan Coburn Gray (Boys and Girls); Conor McPherson (Port Authority); Anto Nolan (Docks, Jocks and Socks), Seamus Scanlon (The McGowan Trilogy)
A special jury prize will also be handed out at the event.
