Plays by Robert Caisley, Christopher De Paola, Vanessa Garcia Set for New Theatre’s Miami 1-Acts Festival

New Theatre is set to present the first annual Miami 1-Acts Festival, July 6-8 at The Roxy Performing Arts Center.

The festival will feature two programs. First, on July 8 at 5:30 pm, Program A will feature Durafab by Eugene O’Neill Semi-Finalist Robert Caisley, A Moment of Romance by James Carrey, The Clearing by two-time Carbonell nominated playwright Juan C. Sanchez, Hamlet Master Class by founder of Crystal Parrot Players Sandra Riley, Controlled Substances by Steinberg Finalist Catherine Bush, He Bit Her by New Theatre’s Artistic Director’s Ricky J. Martinez, and Dad’s Got the Mic by The Krane founder Vanessa Garcia.

Program B, which will take place on July 8 at 1 pm, will featureRegret by Ambie Award winning playwright David Caudle, God Knows by Ruth Pleva and Elly Rakowitz, F**k This Clown by Edward G. Excalibur, Dinner at the End of the World by South Florida Theatre League executive director Andie Arthur, Dirty by Emmy nominated actor Christopher De Paola, Passing Through by City Theatre Founder Susie Westfall, and tunisia. by Thomas Daniel Valls.

The festival’s directors will include Sandra Riley, James Carrey, The Roxy Performing Arts Center’s artistic director Ana Andreu, New Theatre’s artistic director Ricky J. Martinez, New Theatre’s managing director Eileen Suarez, Steven A. Chambers, Jerry Jensen, Women Theatre Project’s artistic director Genie Croft, JQ Studio’s artistic director Jesus Quintero, Impromedy’s artistic director Ozzie Quintana, Stephen S. Neal, and Lost Girls’ co-founder Katherine Siegel.

The festival will help raise funds for New Theatre, and all artists: playwrights, directors, actors, and support team, will be volunteering their time and talent.
