Star Tammy Minoff Makes Her Playwriting Debut With the World Premiere of Perennial

Perennial will be presented as a guest production at Burbank, California’s Sidewalk Studio Theater.

After performing in Broadway musicals such as The Will Rogers Follies and The Goodbye Girl, Tammy Minoff has transitioned into the world of playwriting. Her new show, Perennial, is set to open its world premiere production at Burbank, California’s Sidewalk Studio Theatre on June 1, running through June 29.

The play follows the romance that develops between a spirited painter named Rosemary (played by Minoff herself) and a playboy architect named Tom. Their budding passion is juxtaposed with the stagnant marriage between Tom’s best friends, May and Donald. When Rosemary’s high school friend Leo enters the mix, he complicates both relationships.

Directed by Alexa Coblentz (Co-Producer of Joshua Tree 1951 – A Portrait of James Dean), the cast also features Billy Aaron Brown (8 Simple Rules…) as Leo, John Churchill (Criminal Minds) as Donald, Kelly Frye (NCIS: Los Angeles) as May, and Wes Whitehead as Tom (Girl Walks Into A Bar). The production’s creative team includes Vanessa Chafen (costume design), Paige Selene Luke (lighting design), J.J. Wickham (set design), Adeline Newmann (video design), Joe LaRue (video design), and Borja Sau (sound design).

“It is a play about what it means to love each other and the ways we screw that up,” said Minoff in a statement. “It’s a play that looks at sex, love, friendship, and all the shades in between.”
