Based on the novel by Frances Hodgson Burnett, The Secret Garden follows the young, orphaned Mary Lennox as she's sent from her home in India to live with her reclusive uncle on his haunted English country estate. The musical originally opened on Broadway in 1991 and is now being reimagined for a new generation by original creator, Tony Award and Pulitzer Prize winner Marsha Norman, as well as Grammy Award-winning composer Lucy Simon, who died earlier this year. Direction and choreography are by Warren Carlyle and music direction is by Rob Berman.
The Secret Garden won three 1991 Tony Awards, including Best Book (Marsha Norman) and Best Featured Actress in a Musical (Daisy Eagan, the youngest female recipient of a Tony Award).
