Matthew Fox will join the previously announced Tyler Perry in the film I, Alex Cross, according to a report on Deadline.com. Rob Cohen is directing the project.

The movie will be an origin tale of the detective/psychologist created by James Patterson and portrayed by Morgan Freeman in Kiss the Girls and Along Came a Spider. Perry will be playing the title character and Fox is slated to play Michael Sullivan, an assassin who kills for both money and thrills. In addition, Ed Burns will portray Cross’ partner Tommy Kane.

Fox is currently starring in Neil LaBute’s In a Forest Dark and Deep in London. He is perhaps best known for his Emmy Award and Golden Globe-nominated work as Dr. Jack Shephard on Lost.
