Jeremy Jordan and Karen Olivo Set for West Side Story at the Hollywood Bowl

Broadway favorites Jeremy Jordan (Newsies) and Karen Olivo (In the Heights) will star in a pair of concert performances of West Side Story on July 14 and 19 at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles, according to the venue's website.

The classic musical from Arthur Laurents, Leonard Bernstein, and Stephen Sondheim takes place in the 1950s on New York's Upper West Side, where racial and social tensions run high. It features many of Leonard Bernstein’s most famous songs, including "Maria," "America," "Somewhere," and "Tonight." The concert performance is to be conducted by Gustavo Dudamel. David Saint will serve as book director.

Jordan will sing the role of Tony (which he played as an alternate in the 2009 revival), with Olivo taking on Anita, the role for which she won a Tony Award for that production (which was directed by Laurents). They will be joined by Broadway's Matthew James Thomas (Pippin) as Riff, Solea Pfeiffer as Maria, George Akram as Bernardo, Drew Foster as Action, Kyle Selig as Baby John, Anthony Chatmon II as A-rab, Jennifer Sanchez as Rosalia, Brit West as Francisca, Julia Bullock as A Girl, and Jeff Smith as Diesel.
