Dominic Cooper, Tommy Lee Jones to Join Chris Evans, Stanley Tucci, et al. in Captain America Movie

Additional casting has been announced for the Captain America: the First Avenger movie, according to published reports.

Stage and screen star Dominic Cooper, a Tony Award nominee for The History Boys, will play the young Howard Stark, while Academy Award winner Tommy Lee Jones will play General Chester Phillips.

As previously reported, the leading role of Steve Rogers/Captain America will be played by Chris Evans. The film’s cast also includes Hugo Weaving as The Red Skull, Sebastian Stan as Bucky Barnes, Hayley Atwell as Peggy Carter, and Stanley Tucci as Dr. Abraham Erskine.

The film will be released by Marvel Studios and Paramount Pictures on July 22, 2011. Joe Johnston will direct the film, which is written Christopher Markus & Stephen McFeely, based on the comic book series.It will focus on the early days of the Marvel Universe when Steve Rogers volunteers to participate in an experimental program that turns him into the Super Soldier known as Captain America.
