Royal & Derngate has announced its 2012 Made in Northampton season. The theater is approximately one hour from London by train.

Highlights include a trilogy entitled Festival of Chaos, which will feature as part of the London 2012 Festival and run from May to July. Laurie Sansom will direct new interpretations of Euripides' The Bacchae, re-imagined by Rosanna Lowe, Federico Garcia Lorca's Blood Wedding, adapted by Tommy Murphy, and Henrik Ibsen's Hedda Gabler, in an adaptation by Andrew Upton, to explore what is described as "the forgotten power of Dionysus, inviting him back to tear apart the comfort and conventions of our material world." All the productions in the Festival of Chaos trilogy will be accompanied by a community engagement events.

The season will also include Spymonkey's latest show, Oedipussy (February 3-18), a new co-production with Royal & Derngate. The piece is written by Carl Grose and directed by Emma Rice, telling a no-holds-barred subversion of the quintessential Greek tragedy.

Ladies in Lavender (April 6-21) is based on the hit film by Charles Dance, and tells the tale of two sisters Ursula and Janet who live in a close-knit fishing village in 1930s Cornwall. The production will be directed by Robin Lefevre, and include composer Nigel Hess' music from the film.
