The Hangar Theatre has announced preliminary casting for Ragtime, to run June 23 – July 10. Stephen J. Burgoyne will direct the production, which will have choreography by CJay Philip and musical direction by Stephen Gross.

Based on E.L. Doctorow’s novel of the same name, the show, with a score by Lynn Ahrens and Stephen Flaherty and a book by Terrence McNally, intertwines the stories of three diverse American families, played out against the background of actual historical celebrities like Henry Ford, Harry Houdini, Emma Goldman and Evelyn Nesbit.

The company will include Laurie Wells (Mother), Josh Tower (Coalhouse), Jaquina Kalukango (Sarah), Danny Rothman (Tateh), and Joanne Baum (Emma Goldman). Additional casting will be announced shortly.
