Deborah Cox (the upcoming tour of The Bodyguard) will star in Josephine, a new musical about the life of Josephine Baker, at Asolo Repertory Theatre in Florida. The production, directed and choreographed by Joey McKneely, will run April 27-May 29.

With a score by Stephen Dorff and John Bettis and a book by Ellen Weston and Mark Hampton, the show is inspired by Stephen Papich's book Remembering Josephine. It follow's Baker's stint as the star of the Folies Bergère in Paris, her scandalous affair with Swedish Crown Prince Gustav VI, and her heroic service in the French Resistance during World War II.

Joining Cox in the company are Kevin Earley (Death Takes a Holiday) and Mark Campbell as Prince Gustav VI of Sweden. The production features orchestrations, arrangements and musical supervision by Steve Orich, scenic design by Paul Tate dePoo III, costume designer Eduardo Sicangco, lighting design by Brian Nason, sound designer by Justin Stasiw, and projection design by Alex Basco Koch.
