Sebastian Arcelus, Erin Davie, Dion Graham, et al. Set for Arena Stage’s A Time to Kill

Full cast and creative team has been announced on Arena Stage’s world premiere production of A Time to Kill, based on the novel by John Grisham and written by Tony Award winner Rupert Holmes, to run May 6-June 19, 2011 in the Kreeger Theatre. The production will be directed by Ethan McSweeny, and is being presented by special arrangement with Daryl Roth.


The work depicts a Mississippi town’s upheaval when Carl Lee Hailey takes the law into his own hands following an unspeakable crime committed against his daughter. Now on trial for murder, Carl Lee’s only hope lies with one young, idealistic lawyer Jake Brigance, who is outmatched by the formidable district attorney, Rufus Buckley, and under attack from both sides of a racially divided city.

The cast will feature Sebastian Arcelus (Jake Brigance), Dion Graham (Carl Lee Hailey), Rosie Benton (Ellen Roark), Erin Davie (Carla Brigance), Brennan Brown (Rufus Buckley), and Jeffrey M. Bender, Trena Bolden Fields, Jonathan Lincoln Fried, Deborah Hazlett, Joe Isenberg, Chike Johnson, Michael Marcan, Hugh Nees, Evan Thompson, and John C. Vennema


The creative team will feature James Noone (sets), Karen Perry (costumes), York Kennedy (lighting), Lindsay Jones (sound), and Jeff Sugg (projections).
