Steppenwolf Theatre Company has announced its 2011-2012 subscription season.
The year will begin with Bruce Norris’ Clybourne Park, to run September 8 -November 6. The play examines how a Chicago neighborhood changes over the course of 50 years and will be directed by Amy Morton and feature James Vincent Meredith.
Morton will also direct Enda Walsh’s Penelope a reimagining of the Greek story about Odysseus’ wife waiting for her husband’s return. John Mahoney is scheduled to star in this production, which will run December 1-February 5.
Donald Margulies’ Time Stands Still, a look at the relationship between two renowned journalists, will run January 19-May 13, featuring Francis Guinan and Sally Murphy. Austin Pendleton will direct the production.
Frank Galati will direct his own adaptation of E.L. Doctorow’s look at General Sherman’s campaign through the south in the Civil War, The March. to run April 5-June 10). It will feature Alana Arenas, Ian Barford, Tim Hopper, Martha Lavey, Mariann Mayberry, James Vincent Meredith, William Petersen, Yasen Peyankov, and Alan Wilder with Will Allan, Patrick Clear, Stephen Louis Grush, Michael Mahler and Shannon Matesky.
Tracy Letts’ adaptation of Anton Chekhov’s Three Sisters will be the final offering in Steppenwolf’s 2011-2012 season, running June 28-August 26. The production will feature Ian Barford, Ora Jones and Sally Murphy, and will be directed by Tony Award winner Anna D. Shapiro.
