Corey Cott, Mikaela Bennett, and More to Star in Lyric Opera's West Side Story

Amanda Castro, Brett Thiele, and Manuel Stark Santos will also star in this new production of the classic Leonard Bernstein-Stephen Sondheim musical.

Lyric Opera of Chicago has announced casting for its upcoming production of the classic Leonard Bernstein-Stephen Sondheim musical West Side Story, running May 3-June 2 at the Lyric Opera House, with opening night set for May 4.

Corey Cott (Bandstand) will play Tony, and Mikaela Bennett (Renascence) will play Maria. In addition, Amanda Castro (Glimmerglass Festival's West Side Story) will play Anita, Brett Thiele (Miss Saigon) will play Riff, and Manuel Stark Santos (Aladdin) will play Bernardo.

Francesca Zambello will direct, with set designs by Peter J. Davison, costume design by Jessica Jahn, and lighting design by Mark McCullough. Lyric Opera's production will feature Jerome Robbins's original Broadway choreography re-created by Julio Monge.
