Broadway's The Lion King will welcome a new Simba as Bradley Gibson (A Bronx Tale — The Musical) joins the company for performances beginning July 2.

Gibson made his Broadway debut in 2014's Rocky, understudying the role of Apollo Creed. Additional appearances include Broadway's A Bronx Tale, Love's Labour's Lost at the Public Theater, Red Bull Theater's The School for Scandal, and Amazon's Mozart in the Jungle.

The Lion King, based on Disney's 1994 animated musical, opened on Broadway on November 13, 1997, at the New Amsterdam Theatre, and earned six Tony Awards. Now the third longest-running show in Broadway history, the production is currently playing at the Minskoff Theatre.
