Sunday in the Park With George Extends $41 Rush Ticket Policy
The revival celebrates the reopening of Broadway's 41st theater.
The producers of Sunday in the Park With George, which opened on February 23 at Broadway's newly reopened Hudson Theatre, have announced that the show will continue offering a limited number of $41 rush seats. The policy — a celebration of the Hudson becoming Broadway's 41st theater — was originally announced to apply to preview performances only. The discounted tickets will continue to be sold at the Hudson Theatre box office on the day of the performance.
Sunday in the Park With George follows painter Georges Seurat in the months leading up to the completion of his most famous painting, A Sunday Afternoon on the Island of La Grande Jatte. Consumed by his need to "finish the hat," Seurat alienates the French bourgeoisie, spurns his fellow artists, and neglects his lover Dot, not realizing that his actions will reverberate over the next 100 years.
Directed by Sarna Lapine, Stephen Sondheim and James Lapine's Pulitzer Prize-winning musical will complete its 10-week limited run on April 23. The production stars Oscar nominee Gyllenhaal as Georges Seurat and Tony winner Annaleigh Ashford as Dot — both reprising the performances they gave at New York City Center in October 2016.
The cast also features Tony Award nominee Brooks Ashmanskas (Mr./Charles), Jenni Barber (Celeste #2/Elaine), Tony Award nominee Phillip Boykin (Boatman/Lee), Mattea Marie Conforti (Louise), Erin Davie (Yvonne/Naomi), Claybourne Elder (Soldier/Alex), Tony Award nominee Penny Fuller (Old Lady/Blair), Jordan Gelber (Louis/Billy), Tony Award winner Robert Sean Leonard (Jules/Bob), Liz McCartney (Mrs./Harriet), Tony Award winner Ruthie Ann Miles (Frieda/Betty), Ashley Park (Celeste #1/Waitress), Jennifer Sanchez (Nurse), David Turner (Franz/Dennis), Max Chernin, MaryAnn Hu, Tony Award nominee Michael McElroy, Jaime Rosenstein, Julie Foldesi, and Andrew Kober.
