Tony winner Joan Allen (Burn This, The Heidi Chronicles) will return to Broadway this fall in the upcoming production of Kenneth Lonergan's The Waverly Gallery, directed by Lila Neugebauer. Previews begin September 25 at the John Golden Theatre, with opening night set for October 25.

As previously announced, the drama will star legendary writer, actor, and director Elaine May in her first Broadway acting appearance since the 1960s, as well as Tony nominee Michael Cera and Oscar nominee Lucas Hedges. The creative team of The Waverly Gallery includes David Zinn (scenic design), Ann Roth (costume design), and Brian MacDevitt (lighting design).

A powerfully poignant and often hilarious play, The Waverly Gallery is about the final years of a generous, chatty, and feisty grandmother's battle against Alzheimer's disease. Gladys is an old-school lefty and social activist and longtime owner of a small art gallery in Greenwich Village. The play explores her fight to retain her independence and the subsequent effect of her decline on her family, especially her grandson.
