It Doesn't Suck to Be Avenue Q

The musical’s Tony performance was 15 years ago, but Brian is still 32.

Fifteen years may have gone by, but Brian, Kate, Princeton, Christmas Eve, and the rest of the gang are still living their unimpressive postcollege lives on Avenue Q. For the past two weeks, the show has been celebrating this landmark anniversary at New World Stages where its been running since 2009, following a six-year Broadway run that earned it the 2004 Tony Award for Best Musical. And that wasn't just any Best Musical win — that was the win that bested The Boy From Oz, Caroline, or Change, and the gravity-defying Wicked.

To button Avenue Q's 15th anniversary festivities, flash back to the Tony performance that started it all. It was a show that defied Tony odds and continues to defy them off-Broadway as our favorite puppets prove that Avenue Q isn't just "for now" — it's forever.
