The Notebook Musical Is in the Works

Ingrid Michaelson’s adaptation will feature a book by ”This Is Us” writer Bekah Brunstetter.

Earlier this morning on NBC's The Today Show, Ingrid Michaelson announced that she is working on a musical adaptation of Nicholas Sparks's novel The Notebook. She will write the music and lyrics, and Bekah Brunstetter will write the book. Additional creative team members will be announced at a later date.

Best known as a singer-songwriter, Michaelson made her Broadway debut as Sonya in Natasha, Pierre & The Great Comet of 1812. Manhattan Theatre Club will present the New York premiere of Brunstetter's play The Cake this spring. Brunstetter is also a supervising producer and writer on NBC's This Is Us.

Published in 1996, The Notebook was adapted into a popular 2004 film starring Ryan Gosling, Rachel McAdams, James Garner, and Gena Rowlands.
