Bette Midler to Return to Hello, Dolly!

As it celebrates its one-year anniversary on Broadway on April 20, Hello, Dolly! has announced that 2017 Tony Award winner Bette Midler will return to the title role in the Tony Award-winning Best Musical Revival on July 17. Milder will be back in the show for a strictly limited six-week-only engagement. The production will end its Broadway run on August 25.
Bernadette Peters, the production's current star, will conclude her run, alongside four-time Tony Award nominee and six-time Emmy Award nominee Victor Garber, on July 15 as scheduled.
Returning to their roles alongside Midler will be Tony Award winner David Hyde Pierce, who received Tony and Drama Desk Award nominations for his performance as Horace Vandergelder, and Gavin Creel (returning May 8), who received a 2017 Tony Award for Best Featured Actor in a Musical for his performance as Cornelius Hackl.
Directed by Jerry Zaks and choreographed by Warren Carlyle, Hello, Dolly! began previews March 15, 2017, and opened on April 20, 2017. Based on Thornton Wilder's The Matchmaker, Michael Stewart and Jerry Herman's Hello, Dolly! premiered on Broadway in 1964, starring Carol Channing in the title role. This production received the 2017 Tony Award for Best Revival of a Musical, as well as Tonys for Midler and Gavin Creel's performances.
