Sean Graney, John Kuntz, and More Set For Emerging America Festival

The American Repertory Theater, Huntington Theatre Company, and the Institute of Contemporary Art/Boston have announced the programming planned for the third annual Emerging America Festival, June 21-24.

Scheduled programming includes Gilbert and Sullivan’s Pirates of Penzance (June 21-24 at A.R.T.’s Oberon), directed by Sean Graney and performed by The Hypocrites. Huntington Theatre Company will present the Actors’ Shakespeare Project’s The Hotel Nepenthe (June 21-24 at Calderwood Pavilion at the BCA). Then, Steve Cuiffo will bring his one man show Steve Cuiffo is Lenny Bruce (June 22 and 23) to the festival.

Immersivetheater artist Mikhael Tara Garver will collaborate with over fifty writers, dancers, actors, and performers for an evening of music, dancing, and hidden discoveries in Experiment America (June 22 at 9:30 pm). Stickball Productions will present The Friends of Eddie Coyle (June 24 at 6pm), directed by Maria Silvaggi, at A.R.T.’s OBERON.

Pulling the festival to a close, there will be a Join the Conversation! Brunch on Sunday the 24th at noon, where patrons can enjoy live music and mingle with other festival-goers to talk about the weekend’s adventures. Sunday evening, starting at 8:30 pm, will be a closing party with a special guest artist to be announced.
