Full Cast, Creative Team Set for Nelson’s How Shakespeare Won the West

Will LeBow, Mary Beth Fisher, Jeremiah Kissel, Jon DeVries, Ron Campbell, Chris Henry Coffey, and Kelly Hutchison will headline Huntington Theatre Company’s world premiere of Richard Nelson’s How Shakespeare Won the West, to run September 5-October 5, with an official opening on September 12.

The show, about a troupe of 19th-century actors who perform Shakespeare for entertainment-starved panhandlers, will be directed by Jonathan Moscone. The cast will also feature Erik Lochtefeld, Sarah Nealis, Susannah Schulamn, Joe Tapper, Marc Harpin, and Curt Klump. The creative team includes Antje Ellerman (sets), Laurie Churba Kohn (costumes), Japhy Wiedeman (lighting), and Rob Milburn and Michael Bodeen (sound and music composition).

Up next will be Tom Stoppard’s drama Rock n’ Roll (November 7-December 7) in a co-production with San Francisco’s American Conservatory Theatre and directed by that company’s artistic director, Carey Perloff; followed by Kate Burton and her son Morgan Ritchie in Nicholas Martin’s production of Emlyn Williams’ classic drama The Corn is Green (January 9-February 8), previously seen at the Williamstown Theatre Festival.

The season continues with the American premiere of Richard Goodwin’s Two Men of Florence (March 6-April 5), about the astronomer Galileo’s struggle to choose between his religion and his work, to be directed by Edward Hall; and Gordon Greenberg, Nell Benjamin, and John McDaniel’s Caribbean-styled adaptation of Gilbert & Sullivan’s The Pirates of Penzance (May 15-June 14).

At the Calderwood Pavilion, the Huntington will present Jose Rivera’s Boleros for the Disenchanted (October 10-November 5), about the romance of two Puerto Rican immigrants, directed by Chay Yew; and DuBois’ production of David Grimm’s new comedy The Miracle at Naples (April 3-May 9), set in the world of Renaissance Italy.

The Huntington Presents series wll feature Adam Pascal Live, September 18 -20, an evening with the star and his band during which he performs music from Broadway and the world of rock as well as original compositions; and Wishful Drinking, October 10-26, a hilarious and sobering look at Carrie Fisher’s Tinseltown hangover staged by renowned director Tony Taccone.
